Dear Church Family,
We need a dose of hope as 2020 ends.
Culture is rotting by the day as values, ethics, and other standards have all but disappeared.
No one is asking for another round of politics, but I’d guess 2021 will ring in with the start of the 2024 presidential campaign.
Most of us are weary of the 15-day-flatten-the-curve program, which will soon be in its 300th day.
Disease lurks. We hear the rumbles of war. Our economy staggers. Socialism, or worse – totalitarianism, seems to be creeping closer our way.
We are reaping the fruit of the disintegration of the family, the rise of the individual, and the centrality of the state.
To make mattes worse, much of the American church is quite at home in this present world and has adopted its ways.
As I said, we need a dose of hope as 2020 ends.
Christians, we have the answer. The cure. The fix-all! The one true Hope. Only Christ can make all things new (Revelation 21:5).
Until Jesus comes, we need to spread the great hope of Christ by being the church! Our church motto states: We are a welcoming family of Reformed believers committed to the historic Christian faith and life.
What we do isn’t all that complicated. And we are not living in unprecedented times.
The early church was a small band of believers (a family) who were devoted to the teachings of Christ (historic Christian faith and life), expecting one another to live consistently with their profession of faith in Christ.
And their culture? As rotten as ours.
Let’s have hope in God and spread the one true Hope!
Bryan
